The Family Crisis Intervention Unit (FCIU) prevents at-risk youth from entering the court system by providing short-term (4-6 weeks) crisis intervention services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The program is open to all families with acting-out youth between the ages of 11 and 17, who are not under supervision of DYFS and are not being referred due to a direct Violation of Probation. It is open to all families that reside in Morris County and the services are free of charge. Sessions are primarily provided at the FIS Office in Rockaway but community outreach sessions are available under special circumstances as determined by FCIU.
Eligibility | There must be a parent/child conflict, child must be 11-17 years old with truancy and/or school related issue, family/youth substance abuse issue, with no DYFS involvement and must reside in Morris County. The youth may also be a recovered runaway who is reluctant to return home. |
