Jersey Battered Woman's Service (JBWS)

JBWS is a private, nonprofit agency that provides safety, support, and solutions for abuse for anyone who lives or works in Morris County, NJ, or Passaic County, NJ, and faces the issues of intimate partner abuse. More than 75 paid staff and nearly 200 volunteers work together with the help of the community to fulfill the agency's mission.

This confidential helpline is managed by trained staff and volunteers who are prepared 24/7 to provide information, assist with safety planning, or just listen and support callers. As the helpline is confidential, callers can remain anonymous. The helpline is also open to friends, family members, and professionals associated with the victim to learn the most effective ways to help.

    Offers secure temporary shelter for survivors and children.
  • Transitional Living*
    Eligible adults and their children can live in one of eleven fully furnished apartments for up to two years.

    Advocates help with restraining orders, court support, and legal referrals

Support

  • Adult Counseling Services
    Survivors can access support groups and counseling in English and Spanish.
  • Child and Adolescent Services
    Children and teens can receive trauma-informed counseling and support to heal from abuse.
  • DV Housing First Program
    Housing advocates help survivors with housing, safety planning, and financial support.
  • Morris Family Justice Center*
    The MFJC provides legal, advocacy, and support services in one safe location.

Choices Program

Choices is a short-term counseling program for boys ages 12-17 who have begun using verbal, emotional or physical abuse to gain power and control in their relationships with dating partners or family members.
