Provides energy conservation assistance to income eligible households who reside in Somerset, Hunterdon, Warren or Sussex counties. The program is designed to assist elderly, handicapped, and low-income persons in weatherizing their homes and conserving energy. A computerized energy audit will be conducted to determine the efficiency of the home. The level of service is influenced by the energy audit and funding parameters.
Energy Audits show:
Where heat loss occurs and energy is wasted;
What you can do to improve your home’s energy efficiency through energy conservation measures; When the energy savings steps you take will pay for themselves.
Tactics
- Air Sealing
- Insulation (attic and sidewall)
- Insulation of H/W pipes
- Repairs/replacement of the heating system
Other energy conservation tactics may be available depending on the funding at that particular time and the condition of the residence. When a tenant applies for the Weatherization Assistance Program, the landlord of the residence will be responsible for 50% of the total cost of the energy tactics.
