Vernon
Our Food Pantry, Clothing Ministry and free monthly community dinners serve people throughout the year (see descriptions below). We participate as a support church for Family Promise, which provides temporary housing for homeless families, twice a year. We provide food baskets for people in need in our community at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. We have a Community Garden in the summer, which enables us to provide fresh vegetables to people who use our food pantry. We have a one week Vacation Bible School for 80 – 100 children during the summer. Other activities we have done throughout the year are Shoeboxes for Military, Blood Drives, March of Dimes Walk and School Supplies Collection.
Food Pantry
This is a vital ministry in the life of our church. It is open from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We are always in need of volunteers to help distribute the food. Our shelves empty quickly and donations of non perishables food items are always welcome.
New Beginnings Clothing Ministry
Our mission is to provide gently used clothing to people in need. There is no charge for the clothing. People may take what they need. Any free will donations received will be used for our clothing ministry, food pantry or community dinners. We are open Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Community Dinners
Free community dinners are held the last Wednesday of each month. The November dinner is held the day before Thanksgiving. A general menu is chosen for each month.
