Kid Fit Program

(800) 247-9580
Morristown

Goryeb Children’s Hospital offers two Kid-FIT programs – one for children ages 6 to 11 and another for teenagers ages 12 to 21. The session for younger patients is called Family Fit and involves the entire family to help make changes at home. In the other program, teen patients can participate independently and make their own decisions regarding treatment.

To partake in Kid-FIT, patients must obtain a referral from their pediatrician. Those accepted attend an orientation session that covers our program’s philosophy and structure, as well as goal setting and parental expectations.

Next, each child’s current lifestyle – eating habits, social and emotional issues – is assessed. Based on the results, our expert team, which includes an exercise physiologist, nutritionist, social worker and our program’s medical director, will recommend a treatment plan tailored to individual needs. This may include exercise, nutrition and counseling.

Kid-FIT evaluates every child up to four times a year to assess his or her progress and make necessary adjustments to the treatment plan. There is a minimal fee for each lifestyle assessment and financial assistance may be available.
